“The level of sport doesn’t matter. This book is a must-have for every professional actively involved in guiding young people, from recreational sport all the way to (elite) performance sport.”
Edwin Goedhart
Head Sports Medicine, KNVB

“Children are moving less and less, and when they do, they get injured sooner. That is not a good foundation. You should read this book because it helps you understand the frame of mind you need to work with this target group. It gives you tools to understand how to combine certain sports to get the most out of the athlete.”

“In The Athletic Skills Model, the authors provide the building blocks that youth sport programmes and coaches can use to develop better people and better athletes in a sampling environment. This book is a concerted effort to ensure that children learn sport skills as well as life skills that will allow them to continue their participation in sport at either a recreational or elite level.” Jean Côté, PhD Sport psychologist, Queens University, Canada
“Drawing partly on the practice at AFC Ajax, this book provides a solid foundation, which makes it a valuable tool for creating a good programme for the physical development of young footballers within the club. In my opinion we have no choice: it is an absolute necessity.” Foppe de Haan Football coach
